Isabel Miranda de Wallace's Impact on Crime Activism

Isabel Miranda de Wallace, a recognized Mexican activist and founder of the civil association Alto al Secuestro, has recently passed away. Her tireless fight against crime and kidnapping led her to closely collaborate with security authorities, highlighting her relationship with various key political figures.

During the presidency of Vicente Fox (2000-2006), although there was no direct relationship with Isabel Miranda, his government managed to bring visibility to her fight against crime and kidnapping, initiating a continued process during the Calderón administration. Felipe Calderón, who assumed the presidency in 2006 and launched the controversial "war against drug trafficking," became a close ally of Miranda de Wallace in her fight against kidnapping.

Calderón recognized the hard work of Miranda de Wallace by awarding her the National Human Rights Prize in 2010. In 2012, at the end of Calderón's term, the activist ran as a PAN candidate for the head of government of Mexico City, thus consolidating her closeness with the PAN government of that time.

During Calderón's government, one of the closest officials to Isabel Miranda was Genaro García Luna, Secretary of Public Security. García Luna was responsible for security policy and combating organized crime at that time, maintaining a close relationship with the activist in the fight against high-impact crimes.

The recent passing of Isabel Miranda de Wallace has generated a reminder of her important role during the governments of Vicente Fox and Felipe Calderón. Her work alongside García Luna and his team in the fight against kidnapping is highlighted, despite the controversy surrounding García Luna's name due to allegations of corruption and ties to organized crime.

Luis Cárdenas Palomino, another close collaborator of García Luna, was also involved in investigations and operations against kidnapping, directly connecting him with Isabel Miranda de Wallace. However, Cárdenas Palomino has been accused of acts of corruption and faces serious charges of organized crime and torture.

The case of the alleged kidnapping and murder of her son Hugo Alberto Wallace in 2005 was the tragic event that propelled Isabel Miranda to become a prominent activist against organized crime in Mexico. This event has generated criticism and doubts about Miranda's relationship with officials such as Genaro García Luna and Luis Cárdenas Palomino, in a context of accusations of staging and judicial manipulation.
